Medical Staff Members:
Starting Monday, January 25th, HealthONE is implementing a program for inpatients to receive their 2nd COVID-19 vaccine doses if due while hospitalized.
- 2nd COVID-19 vaccine dose eligibility is subject to patient clinical criteria and vaccine availability
- Nurses will perform a vaccine assessment
- Providers will order 2nd vaccine doses for eligible and clinically appropriate patients
- Case Management is available to facilitate these processes, including obtaining necessary background information, and coordinating post discharge vaccine planning as needed
Patients need to receive the same vaccine type as their first vaccine. Storing and transporting these vaccines poses supply chain challenges. HealthONE cannot guarantee that both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are always available at all sites. Order sets will present site-specific treatment options.
COVID-19 vaccine availability and distribution channels keep evolving. We expect and support increased vaccine availability for our patients and the community. We are working to provide all inpatients first dose COVID-19 vaccines. PSG is currently contacting some clinic patients to receive the vaccine.
